Reparation Thoughts
….By His Wounds we are healed
Volume XXIV, Number 2
Dear Donnès of Reparation, Family and Friends,
This reflection is being penned on The Feast of the Chair of St. Peter, February 22nd. This date is important in the history of our Religious Community.
It was on this date in 1957, in their small Chapel in New York, that our first Sisters made their profession of vows in this community. Present in that room were the statues of Our Lady of Grace and St. Therese that you honor in our current dwelling. They stood before the hand-carved altar where Mass is offered in our Chapel today. They used the same kneelers and some of the chairs we use today. It was a solemn occasion for them and one that was history-making.
The weather was cold and snowy, but this did not deter the joy and hopefulness of the promises they made to Almighty God as the vows of poverty, chastity, obedience and sacrifice were offered on that occasion These vows bound each of those members until their death and will bind our sisters in the years to come.
When Jesus went into the area of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” They answered. Then Jesus said to them: “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God.” Jesus said to him in reply, “Blessed are you, Simon, son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Heavenly Father. “And so, I say to you, you are Peter and upon this Rock I will build My Church; and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. I will give you the Keys to the Kingdom of Heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in Heaven and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” (Matt. 16: 13-19)
The Church recognizes the “Chair” lineage of the Papacy that was established when Jesus gave that authority and privilege to Peter. This authority and these gifts have been passed down through all Popes and consequently the hierarchy of the Church since that time.
This Community of Reparation was formed and established within the proper norms of our beloved Catholic Church. It has striven to be faithful to the leadership set forth by Jesus and has remained faithful to His Mystical Body, our beloved Church.
