Reparation Thoughts
….By His Wounds we are healed
Volume XXIII, Number 10
Dear Donnès of Reparation, Family and Friends,
The season is changing. Parents are preparing for their children to return to school. Daylight hours are shorter. The intense heat is subsiding. Fall crops are more available. Nature is adjusting her colors from the intensity of summer. It is a beautiful time of year in the Northwest and recalls the seasonal changes we enjoyed in our childhood. Soon we will have to travel with umbrella in hand.
When shopping, one often sees a mother with her children making selections of clothing and equipment for school. She has new measurements to consider with the inches of growth the child added during the warmth of summer.
The tall trees surrounding our home and the many trees at the Grotto and parks are starting to wear more color upon their leaves. It seems to happen so very quickly. Families plan to use this Holiday Weekend as their final outing before settling down to a more rigorous schedule.
It reminds me of the patterns of behavior we witnessed in the New Testament writings about the Apostles and Jesus. Once He called them from their work or family, the entirety of their mission was predicated upon where Jesus took them; what He had to say; and how He taught them to live. They learned that Jesus came from a Holy Family and was part of the Trinitarian, Heavenly Holy Family. He kept reminding them: “The Father and I are One”. And “I must return so the Holy Spirit can come.”
Family is the center of everything; -- the bedrock of society. Within the Church, Jesus created a family for God. Every child is a blessing in the human family as well as in the church family. We were made to connect and support each other. Each life is of the greatest value because every life is formed in the Hand of God. Jeremiah 1:5 says: “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you came to birth, I consecrated you”. Think of God’s great and everlasting love for each one of us. He loved each of us to His death, and He continues to give us His life in the Holy Eucharist, the Most Blessed Sacrament!
I learn more and more every day about the need to protect and guard this life He has given to me; to nourish it as often as possible with the Holy Eucharist; to treasure the moments and make proper choices to remain well that I may continue to serve others and through it, bring glory to my God.
So, I ask myself, are you ready for this new season as its changes unfold before your very eyes? Can you put summer to rest with peace of mind and heart? Are there any issues or points of forgiveness left unresolved? Be of peace and be at peace for the God of all peace has created you, blessed you and loved you!
